Aikido demonstration at a school in Bago, Myanmar
Approximately 600 students participated, and requests were made for the event to be held at five more schools.
On August 26, 2026, an Aikido demonstration and introductory session was held in Thalawady Township, Bago Region, Myanmar.
The venues were two schools in the town of Thonze: BEHS(1) Tharrawaddy and BEHS(1) Thonze. Of these, BEHS(1) Tharrawaddy is also the alma mater of the performers in this event.
At each school, demonstrations and presentations of Aikido techniques and training methods were held over approximately three hours, with about 300 students and related personnel participating at each location, for a total of about 600 attendees. The participating students showed great interest in the techniques and spirit of Aikido, which emphasizes harmony with one's opponent, and watched the demonstrations with great enthusiasm.
This event provided a valuable opportunity to introduce Aikido to the younger generation in my hometown and expand the possibilities for its spread in the region.
Following the positive reception of the events at both schools, the education officer in the Tarawady district requested that similar Aikido introductory sessions and demonstrations be held at the other five schools in the district.
It is hoped that this initiative will serve as a catalyst for further expansion of youth development and international exchange through Aikido in various parts of Myanmar, including the Thalawady district.
